While Sydney is beautiful, it is also a major city. Expect it to look much like New York, London, Paris, Berlin, or any other major travel destination. Expect it to have all the amenities you would find anywhere else, from excellent restaurants to great hotels and beyond.

The city itself is a sprawling complex loosely located on the waterfront, but with suburbs fanning out on all sides. The metropolitan area is vast and cosmopolitan, giving the city a busy but yet not hectic aura.

Districts Of Sydney

City Centre is the heart of Sydney. This is the place where government, restaurants, and some of the best hotels come together, forming the true nerve center from which the rest of Sydney flows. City Centre is found on the edges of Sydney Harbor, located between City East, the Rocks, and Darling Harbour districts.

The Rocks is home to many of the most trendy new establishments in downtown Sydney. This district is home to the Harbour Bridge as well, and some of historic elements. If you choose a hotel that is oriented more toward avant garde design than traditional business elements, you will most likely be staying here.

Darling Harbour tends not to be relevant to most people who travel to Sydney on business. It is mostly a leisure district, featuring attractions like restaurants and boardwalks, museums and aquariums. There is a monorail service available here, which is helpful considering how long the walking can sometimes become. If you are traveling with your family this is a can't miss destination.

City South, City East, and City West districts border the suburbs. There is no particular business interest in these districts, although you may visit a client here or potentially enjoy a meal at a restaurant located somewhere within these.
